As much as this is absolutely not a recipe post because, been there, done that, failed a lot, there will be lil’ suggestions as to what I do to make the foods a little more interesting. I love food, I am a carb monster and I love cooking. I find something so therapeutic in cooking a full blown home cooked meal and eating them is pretty good too.
The first thing that came to my mind when I thought of this post is cheesy mash. I am not kidding when I say this dish is a soul healer, I typically have this when I’m feeling down because I really do find it a comfort food. I typically make the mash skins on because I’m lazy, add a heart attack inducting amount of butter and milk, a sprinkle of salt and then a hell of a lot of cheese. Put the mash into an ovenproof dish and sprinkle a hell of a lot more cheese on top. Bake for 20 mins on 180 degrees and voila, your heart is not longer broken, you are no longer stressed and you are ready to face life again. Thank me later.
Cottage pie is a family favourite in most homes which is completely understandable because it’s blooming lovely. Typically when I do mine I add kale and kidney beans into it to bulk the dish out more and add an interesting texture, you obviously don’t have to do that but you should definitely try it. I really couldn’t make this list without cottage pie.
Imagine this, your emotional, you’ve had a hard day and you rush home to get curled up in your pyjamas and watch a chick flick, what do you imagine eating? Ice cream of course! Comforting food may as well be sponsored by Ben & Jerry’s. Does anyone else hate how nice Ben & Jerry’s is? Every time I see it on offer I snap it up because £5 for ice cream is CRAZY! My favourite is the half baked but I do have to make my boyfriend eat the vanilla ice cream part, don’t worry he obliges without protest most of the time.
There are so many other things such a stews, roast dinners, anything that’s home cooked with gravy is pretty good in my eyes. What foods do you love?

Come see what I get up to when I’m not writing all of my ramblings for you all (spoiler alert: it involves lots of food, wine and television but hey, I like to think I’m a little bit interesting).
