I love wine and I am not ashamed to say it. Drinking is a social thing for me and it is something I enjoy but the hangovers are a whole different league of nope. As I write this I am suffering from a hangover so I thought I would share with you my tips of getting through till bedtime with a hangover ESPECIALLY if you can’t be a slob all day. Now I am 100% not saying these tips are going to work for you (in fact if they make you feel worse then, I am so sorry) but I have tried everything from sleeping all day to exercise to drinking Sprite, all of the myths and I have finally found my cures.
First of all, I drink wine, mainly red and I don’t drink like a trooper (at least not all the time) so I doubt this would make you feel fresh as a daisy if you were out till 5am downing Jaegerbombs but let’s face it, I’m not a miracle worker and if you’ve been drinking that much then you deserve punishment from your poor liver. My magic ingredient is Lucozade, yes I know it is bad for you but seriously, I’m sure a hangover is worse (not scientifically proven). I drink a bottle, before bed/during the night and wake feel literally, no word of a lie, fresh as a little spring flower blossoming from the dirt. It’s amazing. I then follow this up with a ton (and I mean 5 cups) of green tea, I mean, water does the same thing but sometimes when I’m teetering on the edge of a hangover water makes me gag and the benefits of green tea are endless.
So, if you’re out and about all day make sure you got that Lucozade down you whilst you were sleeping (although not literally, that’s a choke hazard) or before you went to bed, wake up, head straight to the bathroom to brush your teeth & wash your face because if your anything like me there will be half of last night’s make up smudged across your face and head straight to the kettle for a green tea. You will not regret it.
If you are a lucky or just a realistic planner and didn’t make plans for the next day because you knew you were going to be a bit frazzled then you are who I aspire to be so run back to bed, smile at yourself and go back to sleep until you are out of the danger zone & don’t forget to add a bottle of Lucozade to your next shopping list.
