A Tea Review by a Tea Hater.

Yep, I said it. I am a self confessed tea hater; in all honesty I am a hot drink hater. I am not the kind of gal that won’t try anything and sits in the corner with her chicken nuggets and chips. I love all kinds of different weird shit (not in the kinky sense, get your mind out of the gutter) but hot drinks are just strange. I don’t like hot chocolate, I don’t like coffee, I don’t like anything hot (unless its mulled wine but let’s be honest, it’s wine) so when everyone talks about the benefits of green tea for your skin, digestive system etc I die with sadness because I just can’t drink the stuff but, stubborn me reared her ugly head and told me tastes buds to shut up and put up because I want to be a healthy, sparkly, glowy lil glazed donut like diamond like that they make out.

I started drinking green tea 3 days ago. I had one, left the teabag in too long and nearly vomited with every mouthful but guess what? I drank it. The next morning I got to googling and found out that 5 cups of green tea a day is what I need to drink to feel the benefits apparently so I did, I drank 5 cups and I am happy to say that every cup got a little easier (the first sip and burning my tongue every single time hasn’t but swings and roundabouts) and now, on day three and on my fifth cup by 3pm I think I can say, I like green tea.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not about to go into a world of drinking builders tea because eurgh but for all of the green tea haters out there, there is hope. Here are my tips.

  • Get flavoured green tea. I like berry or lemon flavoured ones.
  • Don’t burn yourself. I do it with every cup I’m sure, fingers crossed I’ll learn one day.
  • Don’t forget to take the teabag out after a couple of minutes, its vile.
  • Persevere, it really isn’t that bad when you get used to it.
  • If you really don’t like it then let it get to a bearable temperature and the swig it.

So my fabulous readers, if you hate green tea, try it and you could be on your way to being a glowy, little ball of health

P.S There are no guarantees, I have seen no results but who does after 3 days? We all know the internet lies but fingers crossed it isn’t lying this time. I need amazing skin, to lose a load of weight and a great bank balance although I don’t think green tea can help with that last one. To follow my teascapades n generally boring stuff add me on snap:courtvlott & insta @courtneyvlott.

Do you drink green tea? If so do you have any tea tips or recommendations? My bank balance will hate you but I will love you forever.

  1. I used to be a tea hater! But then in college a friend got me to start trying teas at a local tea shop. It was such a fun experience! The closest I’ve had to it is David’s Teas which is a tea shop chain. You can smell the teas and they have fun names! You can even try some as well before purchasing I believe. Now I mostly drink black teas but try looking for a tea place near you and see if you can find a green tea blend that you like more!

  2. Have you tried putting honey in it to sweeten it? I put honey in almost all of my hot tea (I also hate hot drinks, my coffee has to be iced) it’s also really good for you!
